I started this blog to give form to the thoughts that haunt me, heal me, or make me laugh out loud. It’s a creative space for short personal essays, glimpses of memoir, and pieces of fiction that delve into the marrow of what it means to feel joy, jealousy, justice, and jagged heartbreak.
Things That Start With J is not about the letter “J,” really. But it is about journaling. And jokes. And judgments. And just trying to make sense of the moments we carry.
Sometimes I write about grief. Sometimes I write about panic attacks, awkward interactions, or hilarious happenstance. Sometimes I’m funny on purpose. Sometimes I only realize I was funny after I’ve already cried for three paragraphs.
I write for people who feel deeply, and who maybe don’t always know what to do with all that feeling. I suppose that includes myself.
